Xu chairs Guangzhou Tinci Materials Technology, a supplier of chemicals to sectors such as lithium-ion battery and personal care.

The company has 20 sites in China, Europe and the U.S., and is eyeing new plants in Texas and Morocco.

Xu obtained a bachelor's degree from Zhejiang University and a master's from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, both in chemistry.
