Christopher Stolte cofounded data analytics company Tableau in 2003.

Salesforce acquired Tableau in June 2019 in a $15.7 billion, all-stock deal.

Stolte left Tableau that year and now runs his family foundation?which focuses on climate, education and civic engagement causes.

Tableau was born out of Stolte's Stanford thesis, analyzing and visualizing databases under his then-advisor, later-cofounder Pat Hanrahan.

He and his cofounders raised just $15 million in venture capital before taking Tableau public in May 2013.
