Wang Wenyin is the founder of copper and cable conglomerate Amer.

Headquartered in Shenzhen, Amer has 30,000 employees globally with offices in Asia, the U.S. and Europe.

Born in inland China, Wang went to Shenzhen to seek opportunities in 1993 with 400 yuan in his pocket.

Following temporary restrictions by local courts on high-end spending over cases involving contractual disputes, Wang's shares in Amer were frozen by a court in Qingdao.

He stepped down as chairman of Shenzhen Amer, a main subsidiary of the group, in October 2023.
