About Thomas Pritzker
Tom Pritzker is one of 13 billionaire heirs in the Pritzker clan behind hotel giant Hyatt.
He stepped down as Hyatt's executive chairman in February 2026 amid scrutiny over his friendly relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. "There is no excuse for failing to distance myself sooner," he said at the time.
Hyatt Hotels dates back to 1957 when Tom's father, Jay Pritzker (d. 1999), purchased the first Hyatt House motel near Los Angeles International Airport.
Tom's father Jay and uncle Robert acquired manufacturing firm Marmon in the 1950s and expanded it; Tom led Marmon's 2008 sale to Berkshire Hathaway.
Pritzker stepped down from the board of Royal Caribbean Cruises in 2020 after two decades as a director.
He founded the Pritzker Neuropsychiatric Disorders Research Consortium, a research effort into the genetic basis of psychiatric disorders.
