About Ruan Liping

Ruan Liping is the chairman of power strip supplier Goneo Group, which went public on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in February 2020.

Previously known as Gongniu Group, the company changed its English name to Goneo in December 2023. Its Chinese name is kept unchanged.

Ruan, a basketball fan, named the firm after NBA Chicago Bulls former star Michael Jordan -- with Gongniu translating to "bulls."

He cofounded Gongniu in 1995 with his younger brother Ruan Xueping, who is the company's vice chairman and also a billionaire.

Ruan started his career as an engineer in a local mechanical factory. He quit his job about a decade later to launch Gongniu.
