Pierre Bellon founded Paris-listed Sodexo in 1966 with 100,000 francs as a catering company in Marseille, France.
Bellon began to expand Sodexo internationally in 1971; its 420,000 employees now serve 100 million people in 64 countries daily.
After 50 years, Bellon retired as chairman of Sodexo in January 2016; he remains chairman emeritus. His daughter, Sophie, is now chairwoman.
In 2006, Bellon helped write and edit a book called "I've Had A Lot Of Fun: The Sodexo Story."
He released his second book, "To Serve And To Grow," in 2019, detailing his values and principles of management.
