Onsi Sawiris is the patriarch of Egypt's wealthiest family. His sons Nassef and Naguib are also billionaires.
He founded Orascom Construction in 1950. Gamal Abdel Nasser nationalized it 10 years later.
Onsi rebuilt Orascom from scratch and transferred control to his son Nassef in 1995.
He also owned shares in Orascom Telecom, which Naguib ran before selling it to VimpelCom in 2011.
