About Luigi Rovati & family
Luigi Rovati founded specialty drug maker Rottapharm; it started as an independent research lab in 1961.
He sold Rottapharm to Swedish drugmaker Meda in 2014 for $3.1 billion in cash and stock.
In 2016, Meda was acquired by U.S. pharmaceutical firm Mylan for $7.2 billion in cash and stock, and Rovati now owns a small stake in Mylan.
Rovati is no longer involved with the company he founded.
