A former military man-turned-financial whiz, Fedun met his partner Vagit Alekperov in the late 80's while teaching in the Siberian city of Kogalym.
In the 1990s Fedun helped Alekperov privatize Lukoil, which was formed from top Russian oil properties. He owns a nearly 10% stake in the oil company.
Both he and Alekperov resigned their positions at Lukoil in 2022.
