John Stanton is the chairman of the Seattle Mariners baseball team, serving as managing partner of a group of investors that has owned the franchise since 2016.
He made his fortune as an executive in the wireless telecommunications industry, helming four of the top wireless operators in the United States.
He formed Western Wireless Corporation in 1994; its spun-off subsidiary VoiceStream Wireless later became T-Mobile USA after a sale to Deutsche Telekom.
Stanton is currently a managing director of Bellevue, Washington-based venture capital firm Trilogy Equity Partners, which he founded in 2006.
