He worked in building materials and investment before setting up Baofeng Energy in 2005.

Another private firm, Baofeng Energy Storage, is operating a 100GWh battery and energy-storage plant in northwestern China's Yinchuan city.

In 2025, Baofeng Energy began operations at a $6.7 billion olefins plant in Inner Mongolia, one of the world's largest, raising the company's annual capacity for olefin to 5.2 million tons.
