He is the third generation member of the family business which was started by his grandfather, Jose Ermirio de Moraes, in 1918.

Today, the group, which traces its roots to a textile factory in Sao Paulo, operates in 20 countries.

Scripilliti's siblings, Clóvis Ermírio de Moraes and Regina Helena S. Velloso, are also billionaires; the trio inherited their fortune from their mother Maria Helena Moraes Scripilliti.
