About Alexander Samwer
Alexander Samwer and his brothers Oliver and Marc founded Berlin-based tech incubator Rocket Internet in 2007 and took it public in October 2014.
The youngest of the brothers, Alexander does not take part in day-to-day management of the company, leaving that to Oliver.
Together, the brothers own around 50% of Rocket. In October 2020, the company delisted from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and is now private.
Inspired by the dot-com boom, the brothers created a German auction site, Alando, in 1999 and sold it to eBay for $43 million after a few months
That was followed by the creation of mobile phone content provider Jamba!, which was sold to Verisign in 2004 for $273 million.
